For information about the Vehicle on Road Test (VORT) scoring system, please read this.
Learner License:
- Ensure you have a valid South Australia Learner’s permit.
- Check the expiry date on your permit. It should be valid for the duration of the lesson and beyond.
- Important Note: If you cannot provide a legitimate learner’s permit, the test will be cancelled and fully charged.
Overseas Driver License:
- Ensure you have the original copy of your overseas driver’s license.
- If your license is in a language other than English, check for a National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) translation.
- If your overseas license does not have a photo, ensure you have another valid photo ID, like a passport.
- Check the expiry date on your overseas driver’s license. It should be valid for the duration of the lesson and beyond.
- Important Note: If you cannot provide a legitimate overseas driver’s license and necessary translations, the test will be cancelled and fully charged.
Vehicle Checklist (to be done by the Examiner):
- Indicators: The examiner will ask you to signal to check that both front (right and left) and rear (right and left) indicators are working properly.
- Brake Lights: The examiner will verify that both right and left brake lights, as well as the centre brake light, are functioning correctly.
- Horn: The examiner will ask you to test the horn to ensure it’s working properly.
- Tyre Treads: The examiner will check the treads on all tyres (front right and left, rear right and left) to ensure they are not worn out and are safe for the road.
- Registration Check (Rego Check): The examiner will verify that the vehicle is currently registered.
- Learner Plates: The examiner will ensure that learner plates are clearly displayed at both the front and rear of the vehicle.
Important Note:
- If the vehicle is deemed not roadworthy by the examiner, there will be no replacement vehicle provided. The on-road test will be cancelled, and the full charge will apply.
Additional Safety Checks:
- Run through basic safety checks such as seat belts, mirrors, and the cleanliness of the windshield.
- Adjust the seat and steering wheel position for comfort before starting to drive.
